                Self-Study Videotape Continuing Education Program

Cognitive Therapy Consultants (CTC) began in 1985, created by two psychologists, Arthur Freeman; former training director of The Center for Cognitive Therapy, University of Pennsylvania, Chair of the Department of Psychology, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and author of 40 books on contemporary mental health treatments and Mark Gilson, Director of Training for ACCT, former faculty at University of Pennsylvania and adjunct faculty at Emory University Department of Psychiatry and Georgia State University Psychology Department.

Together they created a 9 month Cognitive Therapy Certification and Training Program originally designed by Dr. Freeman. The program has employed the services of a stellar list of guest faculty including people such as David Barlow, Aaron T. Beck, David Burns, David Clark, Edna Foa, Don Meichenbaum, John T. Watkins, Jeff Young and others. Almost all of the workshops presented were videotaped in their entirety and cover a wide range of clinical concerns.

These videotaped/DVD presentations are 5-10 hours long and allow you, the mental health professional to see and hear the workshops. We believe this promotes more involvement in learning and understanding than most audiotaped lectures.Plus, you choose the times you wish to participate. To get more information on the videotapes, fill out the Self-Study Videotape/DVD Order Form and fax it to us (404 248-9776 or just call in your order toll free (800) 789-2228.

Certification Program

The Training and Certification program  in Cognitive Behavior Therapy began in Atlanta in 1985. It is a 9 month program that includes four discrete sections. Fundamentals begins with our first class September 28, 2008 at our Center in Atlanta. The second part is Applications which includes classes with the foremost mental health experts available, including Arthur Freeman, David Burns, Don Meichenbaum and others. Case Consultation is in the spring-summer of 2009 and finally, a Case Conceptualization, which is presented by participants at the conclusion of the program in early summer. Those who participate in Atlanta attend classes and/or receive videotapes of classes. All programs involve classes, reading, and brief exams on materials covered. If you do not attend presentations, videotapes in USA VHS or PAL VHS will be provided. DVD's are NTSC and require a player that accomodates + and -R discs. Call or email ACCT so we may mail you an application and syllabus. (404) 248-1159, or gilson-at-cognitiveatlanta.com . Please leave your address and phone number.
