The Atlanta Center for Cognitive Therapy was founded in 1985 and was the first treatment & training institute of its type in the Southeast. The Center's founder, Mark Gilson, Ph.D., is a former fellow and faculty at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Cognitive Therapy. He collaborates with David Barlow, Ph.D., Aaron T. Beck, M.D., David Burns, M.D., Arthur Freeman, Ed.D., Donald Meichenbaum, Ph.D. on a variety of training projects.

Our therapists include Psychologists, a Psychiatrist, Licensed Professional Counselors and Addiction Experts . Several of our staff are also faculty at either Emory University School of Medicine and/or Georgia State University, & Kennesaw State University and are involved in research of treatment for emotional problems. Appointments are made on an individual basis. The Center offers flexible hours to fit the schedules of most people, including days, evenings, and some weekends.

Cost of therapy is affordable and the expense varies, depending on the services provided. For current rates, call our office at (404) 248-1159. Treatment services are covered by many PPO's and most health insurance plans including such companies as Blue Cross, Aetna, PHCS, MetraHealth, United HealthCare, UBH, IBH, Magellan, EmoryCare, and others. The plans are always changing, so there is no guarantee that the plan you have lists our professionals. Clients of the Center typically pay fees directly and apply for reimbursement from their insurance company. The main Center is located inside Interstate 285 near Clairmont Road and I-85 at 1772 Century Boulevard (Century Lake Office Park at Century Center) and is convenient to most of Atlanta and its outlying areas. If you need directions, click here.
