Frequently Asked Questions About the Workshop on 1/29/2000 (FAQ's)

I missed the workshop because of my concern about the weather. Will there be a make up presentation?

     Our workshop, Taming The Depression BEAST: Understanding Cognitive Behavioral and Pharmaceutical Treatments, was presented as scheduled with all speakers present. However, there were many who did not attend due to weather conditions. As a courtesy for those who were unable to attend, we would like to offer a range of options. Please choose one  from below the line that most closely fits your needs and circumstances. You can e-mail (preferred method of communication), fax, or call in your option along with your name and address. If you decide on option 2, you will need to supply your credit card again for us to charge you, or you may send a check. Options 1,3, & 4 are credits and do not necessarily involve any other expenses to be incurred by you. Pre-registered Mental Health professionals will earn their CE hours with any option chosen.

_____Option 1:

I would like to attend one of the screenings of the video of the entire workshop with group discussion led by presenters Mark Gilson (author of the book) and Derek O’Brien, M.D. after the viewing. Further information about times and dates will be announced on the website and by mail or fax if you chose this option. Dates will be on Saturdays, just like the workshop.

_____Option 2:

I want the video of the program. I was a paid registrant as a Mental Health professional and missed the workshop as a result of the weather. I  understand I will  have to pay an extra for the videotape. If you are a Social Worker, please identify that you need hours as a social worker, since we have to mail a list to NASW.

_____Option 3:

I want to use my registration fee as a credit and I will give receive a bonus $5.00 credit toward any future workshop presentation. (This credit can only be applied only once for an alternate program.

_____Option 4:

I want to use my registration fee as a credit toward any of our other self-study videotaped CE tapes that are currently in inventory. (Please see website or ask for our latest brochure for other self-study videotapes.)

Other FAQ's:

1.) Do I have to own the book "Overcoming Depression: Taming the Depression BEAST" to come to the workshop on January 29th ?

No, you do not. If you want the bonus four CE hours, you must read the book and take the test that will be given to you at the workshop. You can return the successfully completed test within 30 days of the workshop for credit. If you attend and do not complete the test on the book, you still get 6 CE hours for attendance. You can order by calling (800) 211-8378. 

2.) Can I borrow someone else's book instead of  buying it?

Yes. We hope you buy it, but it is not mandatory.

3.) Will you be selling the book at the workshop?

We might, but more likely we will have the order forms. You can order the book now by calling toll free (800)  211 8378. It costs $25.

4.) Can I order the book from the internet or get it from a bookstore?

Even though Harcourt Brace is a large publishing concern, the TherapyWorks series is only available by phone order. You can order from Amazon or B&N, but it may take longer.

5.) Is there an outline for the workshop?

It is on your brochure and on the web version of the application on our site. Look at the outside back page of the brochure.

6.) Can I fax you my test when I am finished?

Please don't !! Mail it to our Center: Atlanta Center for Cognitive Therapy/ 1772 Century Blvd. NE/ Atlanta, GA 30345.

7.) What is the normal fee for the test on the book?

We charge $50. for this. You get a significant savings by registering  for this workshop.

8.) Can I get the same CE credit if I order the videotaped version of the workshop?

Yes. The videotape is $85. before 1/15/00 and $100. after that date. S/H is $5. If you also complete the test on the book, you will get 10 CE hours.

9.) Will my state honor the CE's awarded?

We have credentials from APA, NBCC, and NASW. You must call your state licensing board if you have doubts. Often, if you are in a profession not listed, you can still get credit if you call and get approval from your licensing board or professional organization. This usually has to be done before you register. Sorry, we do not keep up with each state's changes in rules for each profession. If you have doubts, call your state professional organization.

10.) Why do you charge late fees?

We try to offer workshops with a real value and without a high cost. One of the bigger expenses is processing late registrations and other clerical work. We hope you take advantage of the lowest costs by registering early. Even at full late fee, we offer much more than some larger workshop organizations who often charge up to $150. per day.
